This week, students from Grade 1Y did a survey to find out the different celebrations that our school community celebrate. They approached different teachers, other students and school staff. We inquired deeper about each celebration and learnt the different food, clothes and traditions that our friends do during certain celebrations.

the celebrations and traditions. Students been told to bring artefacts from home. We also watch diiferent videos about special celebrations here in Malaysia, such as Christmas, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Chinese New Year and traditionally that they have been brought into. We planned to make celebration booklet. As an example of one special celebration here in Malaysia. The grade 1 students made a flag for our Merdeka Day Celebration. As for our English we are now in Fitzroy book 5, more reading and learning the meaning of our new words from the said book. As for Math, we are now in our simple addition and subtraction using 2 numbers. We were so honoured to have four of our parents as a guest speaker this week. The topic shared was Rules At Home . Madam Sunny Chen , Mr and Mrs Ramdas ,Mr and Mrs Lim and Mrs Ashok came with various type of sharing. They were able to bring up the central idea so effectively . They shared their rules at home and they even highlighted some of the rules at school which students need to follow. The Reception students really participated and they co-operated well. It was a fun activity for them , parents and even me.
As the first unit came to a wrap, parents, students and teachers came together to celebrate its completion with student-led conferences. The students were exceptionally excited to take up the roles of presenters and shared their learning journey with their parents and teachers. The tables were turned when the audience were given tasks to complete in class. On the whole, there were laughters and collaboration between parent and child to see to finishing the tasks on hand.
Week 5 was a busy week for Grade 1G as we had tons of things to accomplish, namely our Summative Assessment for Unit 1, our reflections and portfolio updating and also our Celebration of Learning. Although it was very hectic for all of us, the Grade 1G students preserved through the ordeal and ended the unit successfully. They had a presentation of their puppet show during Celebration of Learning and showed their mummies and daddies what they have learnt for the past 5 weeks. Althoug the journey was short but it certainly has been a fulfilling one. Watch out for us for Unit 2: How We Express Ourselves! For this week, Creche students inquired into different things that started with the letter "D". D for duck and D for dinosaur is the theme for this week. This week, students also interviewed teachers and asked them "How are you?" |
